About the Event

East Bay Holocaust Education Center (EBHEC) is thrilled to host an in-person talk with Eve Neuhaus, the author of the novel Red Vienna. This event will occur in person on Tuesday, July 9th @ 7:00 PM at the CommonPoint Nonprofit Center located at 164 North L Street in Livermore. Seating is limited, so register as soon as possible.

Red Vienna is the first part of the Two Suitcases trilogy, recounting Gisi and Max's thrilling 1938 escape from the Nazis in Vienna. Set during the 1920s and early 30s, Gisi and Max, living in a city idyllically governed by the socialists, meet in Vienna's great coffee houses to pursue their studies, careers, and romance. But this life won't last. Gisi and Max know they will die unless they escape.”

The book can be ordered from bookstores (not in stores) or online. Also, there is a Kindle version available to buy from Amazon.

Eve Neuhaus was born in Philadelphia to Viennese refugees who preferred not to share the story of their harrowing escape across Europe between 1929 and 1942, Eve Neuhaus can only imagine it. Red Vienna tells the first third of their story as it might have been. At other times in her life, Eve raised five children, taught school, and wrote two other books, Journey to Mythaca, and the Crazy Wisdom of Ganesh Baba.

In addition to this event, the book will be discussed in the fall by the EBHEC book group, called Read to Remember. If you are interested in getting details for the fall meeting, please email your request to info@ebhec.org.
